Our Story
Polito was founded in 2012 by Fred Mastrippolito, a cybersecurity industry veteran with over 25 years of experience in both the public and private sectors. Our company has helped organizations and individuals recover from cybersecurity attacks and incidents, while also strengthening their security posture through our plethora of services, including Penetration Testing, Red Team and Purple Team Assessments, Incident Response, Digital Forensics, Threat Hunting, CISO Consulting, Security Policy consulting, and more.
When not testing or defending our clients' networks and systems, our team proactively hunts for adversaries by looking for indicators of compromise. Meet The Team
Fred Mastrippolito
Founder & CEO
Fred enjoys working technical challenges and also likes to build interesting things. Before starting Polito Inc, Fred became an industry recognized expert in penetration testing and computer forensics. He has performed numerous web application assessments and penetration tests for financial services, energy, health and retail clients, and federal agencies. He's managed SOCs, responded to incidents, and reversed and analyzed malware. Fred has spent the last decade building a tightly knit team of highly skilled cybersecurity consultants and engineers, whose purpose is to be on the cutting edge of technology and to provide professional and expert cybersecurity services to Polito's clients and partners. He has a bachelor's in Computer Science and holds multiple certifications such as the CISSP and CEPT to name a few.
Ben Hughes
Director of Commercial Services
Ben brings a diverse background in cybersecurity, IT, law, and law enforcement to Polito. After earning his JD from William & Mary School of Law in 2010 and providing IT and e-discovery support to law firms, Ben joined Booz Allen Hamilton as a cyber security consultant in 2012. While a member of Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) hunt teams assigned to commercial and federal clients for 3 years, Ben sharpened his network security monitoring, forensics, incident response, malware analysis, cyber threat intelligence, and security architecture skills. He has earned the CISSP, GIAC Certified Forensic Analyst (GCFA), GIAC Web Application Penetration Tester (GWAPT), and Splunk Certified Power User certifications. Ben is a member of the Maryland bar and volunteers at a pro bono legal clinic.
Nick Baker
Senior Cybersecurity Consultant
Nick has over 10 years in the cybersecurity field with a deep understanding in computer network defense. Prior to joining Polito, Nick spent 20 years as a Signal Warrant Officer in the U.S. Army. During his time in the military, he has been a Security Operations Manager, created, deployed, managed and trained personal in Security Operation Center procedures, participated in multiple military cyber blue team engagements by defending computer networks from simulated attacks, performed as a senior server technician, and worked at all levels of IT customer support and helpdesk, as well as command levels including nine years in Special Operations Command. He has a Master's degree in Information Assurance, a Bachelor's in Computer Networking, and holds numerous industry certifications from GIAC, ISC2, CompTIA and EC-Council.
Peter Quach
Director of Client Relations
Peter has a diverse background in project management, marketing, business development, IT and telecommunications. Peter started his career in sales and sales management and quickly moved up to the position of District Manager, where he was responsible for business development, people management, hiring, training and project management in the New England area. Some of Peter’s notable IT experience comes from his time at Discovery Communications, where he worked at their Global Service Desk supporting and integrating their newly acquired European networks. Before joining Polito, Inc., Peter worked as a Digital Advertising Strategist where he managed a book of over 60 clients, developing, implementing and managing their digital marketing projects. Peter double majored in both Business Administration as well as Information Systems Management. He currently holds the Security+ certification.
